D and D3.5e Duskblade -- Master of Sword and Spell
The D&D game's arcane spells allow characters to accomplish dramatic things on the battlefield -- wizards are justly feared. Still, there's something deeply satisfying about defeating a powerful enemy with naked steel. The duskblade class from Player's Handbook II melds arcane power with straight-up fighting ability. Some duskblades forget that they can fill two roles in an adventuring party and tend to favor either their martial or arcane sides. Such characters never quite achieve their full potential. Other duskblades can lead the charge into battle and toss off a few spells to even the odds when things get tough. Such characters are deadly

The Shaman
Those few who would find it in them to become Shamans feel the pull of nature. Without regard for their own wellbeing do they follow their own path. Their crafts are the direct result of deity worship and their personal devotion, placing their bodies in the hands of the Gods who in turn empower them with divine magic. This knowledge of spells is not innate, nor does it come easy, and the investiture of spells is a process both rapturous and baleful. A gift of the gods, the trees, the water, the stone, the sun, the moon, beast and man are not to be treated lightly, and many have succumbed in their quest for this power. The ancient,

D and D - Prestige Classes - Bladesinger
Bladesingers are elves who have blended art, swordplay, and arcane magic into a harmonious whole. In battle, a bladesinger's lithe movements and subtle tactics seem beautiful, and belie their deadly martial efficiency.
Multiclassed fighter/sonorists are the most likely combination of bladesingers. In campaigns not using Sonorism as the root of all elven magic can substitute wizardry. However, any elf who can wield a martial weapon and can cast arcane spells can become a bladesinger. Bladesinging ranger/wizards, rogue/wizards and bladesinger bards are not unknown.
Bladesingers command great respect in most elf communities and NPC bladesinger

D and D - Prestige Classes - Spellsword
Originally introduced in Tome and Blood, Spellswords are spellcasters who have managed to blend the art of wearing armour and hitting foes over the head with big swords as well as wielding magic. They forgo some spellcasting powers in return for great proficiency with weapons and the ability to use those weapons as a conduit for their magic. There are no organisations of spellswords and each one is unique. They may not even use swords, prefering other weapons such as staffs, spears or whips.
